Finding the Right Fit - a Book Review

Picture yourself entering a grand ballroom at a hotel surrounded by well-dressed and earnest educators. Tables with signs listing school names and job positions encircle you. You take a deep breath and review your list of potential schools. Then you begin “the dance” of meeting school leaders, hoping to snag as many interviews as possible.

If you are new to international recruiting, this scenario and the interviews that will follow it can be daunting. If you are a veteran international educator, you are probably ready for this rodeo, but perhaps it has been some time since your last fair.

In both cases, I have a book for you. Author and fellow international school podcaster Greg Lemoine details the recruiting fair experience with flair while offering some fun and exciting stories. The book is Finding the Right Fit: Your Professional Guide for International Educator Recruiting Fairs and Amazing Stories of Living Overseas.

Greg covers the intricacies of preparing for and attending an international recruitment conference and the many reasons why international teaching is so worthwhile. His optimistic nature balances the reality of needed hard work and preparation to present yourself in the best light to recruiters.

As mentioned, the second half of the book opens the door to the adventures of teaching and traveling internationally. Greg is a natural storyteller, so be ready for smiles and chuckles!
