Health Insurance in Schools' Salary and Benefits Packages

We speak to salary and benefits packages in several of our podcast episodes. Our discussions led me to check the web for package descriptors of health insurance. Here are a few that I found.

  • Worldwide coverage - all countries included. Includes Emergency Evacuation.

  • Worldwide coverage - all countries included

  • Worldwide, except for the U.S., Includes Emergency Evacuation.

  • Teachers enrolled in national medical. Those with overseas ties enrolled in the overseas plan.

  • The local (name of country) insurance includes limited coverage overseas.

  • Worldwide, except for the U.S.

  • Host country coverage only.

These examples provide minimum information, so one needs to have a list of questions about deductibles, in vs. out-of-network costs, payment for visits as reimbursed, or the medical facilities directly bill the insurance provider, etc. It would be helpful if interviewers of data sheets that break down the health insurance coverage for potential hires.
